Pure Jerry: Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium showcases a quintessential Jerry Garcia/John Kahn acoustic duo performance from February 28, 1986. Living up to the series name, the duo’s performance is exactly that – pure. With only Jerry’s vocal and guitar and Kahn’s bass, the two deliver an unadulterated and intimate performance within the walls of the 2,000-seat auditorium. The two-set performance features a quintessential setlist including storied Garcia/Hunter compositions like “Friend of the Devil,” “Run for the Roses,” “Ripple,” “Bird Song” and “Dire Wolf” plus other favorites like “Deep Elem Blues,” “Jack-a-Roe,” and Bob Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece.” Originally released in 2009 as a single CD, the 2xLP live set is pressed on gold vinyl in a limited edition of 7,500 for Record Store Day’s 2023 Black Friday and features intricate new artwork created by Gabe Schneider (Sight Study).
