New Australian label Desperate, is dedicated to raw rock & roll from the past, present and the future, and will be
releasing/reissuing classic records by Geelong's Bored! , as well as a series of classic '70s Aussie
albums by Lobby Loyde & The Coloured Balls , Buffalo, Blackfeather (in conjunction with Aztec Records) and more.
But up first we have the awesome 1993 debut by Melbourne's sadly defunct . Powder Monkeys (CD version in stock on Freeform)
Originally released on the DOG MEAT label, “Smashed on a Knee” is a classic slab of raw power from the band, the only recording featuring the band in their original 5-piece line-up. Fronted by the forceful personality of the late, great Tim Hemensley , and aided and abetted by the raucous guitar shredding of John Nolan, it's a must for any fan of Australian punk, garage or hard rock.
The album was only ever available on vinyl once over 10 years ago in a limited run on the Spanish
Munster label. This 180-gm edition is remastered by Mikey Young , contains 3 rare bonus track
(featured on the download card, which also contains the full LP) and a detailed insert with photos,
memorabilia and extensive liner notes by Joel Silbersher, Dave “Dog Meat” Laing, Mike Mariconda
and more.
This is edition to get!
